E90 Loud Idle, Hello everybody, I have a problem with my E90 and I would appreciate any advice or opinions. Loud Squealing Noise - UPDATE My car has less than 6k mi on it and I have noticed on several occasions that when I cold start my car, I hear a loud squealing/screeching noise that sounds a lot like a fan belt slipping. The time now is 05:46 AM. All times are GMT -5. Could be a misfire among a few other symptoms. The time now is 06:05 AM. First time it happened, car was cold started, driven on the highway for ~ 25 minutes at cruising speeds in drive. Just a God awful racket and the occasional thump at start up. us My Yahoo! These do idle loud but I found switching from castrol to shell oil that it was a bit less tracker sounding. PLEASE NEED YOUR HELP. My pump is extremely loud-- if you're standing outside the car that's the main thing you here-- this loud annoying buzzing. The noise definitely sounds like it coming from the front drivers side of the engine. It also shakes when idling. I let it run for a while and tried to check for leaks before leaving the shop, did a test drive, went back, let it run for a bit longer. The sound is most noticeable at idle, and can best be heard by listening from the front air intake with the hood down. Replaced the vanos check valves and chain tensioner. As for the loudness of lifters, they definitely are "loudish" as its the type of injection. I bought my E90 3 months ago and finally got around to installing an aftermarket downpipe last night. But that noise sounds like metal to metal. It sounds a lot like a loose heat shield but I can't feel anything moving.
